DragRacingOnline.com AA/FC Challenge begins 2012 season at Las Vegas

The fourth season of the Mickey Thompson Tires DragRacingOnline.com AA/FC Challenge will begin May 25-27 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This marks the first time the series will appear at the track. Victory Performance Products and COMP Cams are associate sponsors of the series.

Running as part of the Rockabilly Rod Reunion at this event, the AA/FC series features nitro-burning Funny Cars with pre-1980 bodies. The AA Funny Car teams at Las Vegas will earn points both for the DragRacingOnline.com series and the Hot Rod Heritage Series.

The 2011 DRO AA/FC Challenge national champion, John Hale from Dallas, will be driving his "Nitro Boss" Mustang as he begins his title defense. Two-time DRO AA/FC Challenge champion Paul Romine in the "Man O' War" Mustang out of Indianapolis will be trying to regain the title.

More than 20 other teams from Arizona, California, Washington, and Canada will be at the Memorial Day weekend event, including Tim Boychuk, winner of this year's famous March Meet in Bakersfield, Calif.

Testing is available on Friday, May 25. Qualifying for the Mickey Thompson Tires DragRacingOnline.com AA/FC Challenge begins Saturday, May 26, with session at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 5 p.m. Eliminations begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 27.

In addition to the AA Funny Cars, the Hot Rod Heritage classes will run, and there will be bands playing throughout both days, a Show 'n' Shine car show, a pin-up girl contest, and a burnout contest to conclude the event.
