National Guard ADRL Expands Online Event Coverage
O’FALLON, MO (May 20, 2009) – To enhance the online experience of its fans and racers, the National Guard American Drag Racing League (ADRL) is rolling out an expanded and improved Internet-based reporting package, beginning May 21-23, from its Quarter-Max Memphis Drags II at Memphis Motorsports Park.
The weekend coverage kicks off Thursday night from Silky O’Sullivan’s Pub (183 Beale St.) in downtown Memphis, where host “Big Don” Ellison will debut National Guard ADRL Online Radio at 7 p.m., featuring interviews with drivers and crew members from all five National Guard ADRL professional classes as part of an open-to-the-public, pre-race party. A prominent link on the official National Guard ADRL Web site (www.ADRL.us) will connect listeners to the show.
The National Guard ADRL Web site also will sport a new look this weekend, opening with a special-event front page to direct viewers either to a race coverage menu or to the traditional ADRL.us layout. Once on the race coverage page and starting at noon on Friday, May 22, users will be able to choose from watching live timing and scoring displays of all qualifying and elimination runs from the Quarter-Max Memphis Drags II, listening to the live play-by-play call of National Guard ADRL announcers Al Tucci and Brian Olson, or viewing round-by-round written coverage of what’s happening on the track.
Additionally, a National Guard ADRL Notebook will feature insights, interviews and insider information from the pits, along with select photos and videos to illustrate the action, plus an online photo gallery that will grow as the weekend progresses.
“I’m excited about getting the National Guard ADRL Online Radio show going,” said Ellison. “I think the fans are really going to enjoy getting to know these drivers a little better and we’re going to have plenty of opportunities for online interaction with them.”
Among those already confirmed to appear on the inaugural National Guard ADRL Online Radio show are Pete Berner, driver of the Quarter-Max 2008 Pontiac GXP in the Extreme Pro Stock category, National Guard-backed Pro Extreme drivers Joshua Hernandez and Travis Swearingen, Pro Extreme Motorcycle newcomer Angelle Sampey with Star Racing team owner George Bryce, and Extreme 10.5 driver Bill Devine.
