ADRL Hardee's Georgia Drags V on Versus this Sunday

ADRL Hardee’s Georgia Drags V on Versus this Sunday

O’FALLON, MO (May 1, 2009)—The National Guard American Drag Racing League (ADRL) returns to nationwide broadcast this weekend, with the airing of its Hardee’s Georgia Drags V at 3 p.m. Eastern this Sunday, May 3, on the Versus action sports television network.

The second of 11 National Guard ADRL broadcasts this year, this show will differ significantly in appearance and content from the first episode shown after the National Guard ADRL season opener in March.

“In a typical show, once you come out with the first one you don’t want to change things too much because you’ve pretty much set the precedent,” executive producer Steve Grein explained. “Well, there’s nothing typical about ADRL and they looked at the first show and decided, well this worked and this didn’t, so the second show is drastically—I mean, unbelievably—different from the first show.”

Noted drag racing historian Bret Kepner continues to handle all the top-end interviewing and pit reporting, while veteran announcers Al Tucci and Brian Olson provide the play-by-play with new in-studio host Ted Brunson anchoring the broadcast.

“Bret has one of the best minds and greatest understandings of the sport and he has a great way of drawing in fans at all levels. We asked him to do the types of stories and features he’s always wanted to do, but never had the chance and he is having a ball with it,” National Guard ADRL Executive Vice President Jeff Fortune said. “And Brian and Al have such a love for the sport and are so entertaining at the events that it comes across in every call they make.”

In addition to thrilling round-by-round coverage of the National Guard ADRL’s all-professional-classes event from South Georgia Motorsports Park, the TV show will introduce several new segments, including “Torn From the Pages,” which highlights an article from an upcoming “Adrenaline” magazine, the official publication of the National Guard ADRL. Similarly, the “Adrenaline” article will appear under a “Torn From the Tube” headline.

All National Guard ADRL broadcasts are presented in high definition with Dolby sound on the powerful Versus action sports network two or three weeks after each national event, but always on a Sunday at 3 p.m. Eastern. Additional airdates are June 7 and 21; August 2, 16 and 23; September 6 and 27; and November 8 and 22, with all dates and times subject to change.

The National Guard ADRL returns to action May 22-23, with the Quarter-Max Memphis Drags II, at Memphis Motorsports Park in Millington, Tennessee.
