Marvin Noel retires
Veteran of the announcing booth and treasured Draglist.com Super Crew member Marvin Noel has announced his immediate retirement from drag racing announcing. In a telephone interview on March 18, Marvin related that he will no longer accept standard announcing jobs, but would not leave the sport completely. "I will continue to do the National Hot Rod Reunion, some select nostalgia events, and I'll promote my own events, but as for the rest of them, I'm done." Marvin Noel has been announcing drag races for 40 years, including stints as the original announcer of the National Muscle Car Association (1989-1996) and the National Street Car Association (2001-2006). Marvin has also announced at all six National Hot Rod Reunions in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Columbus, Ohio. Marvin will retire to play with his new '54 Ford street machine and to follow the burgeoning nostalgia drag racing movement. We wish to extend our congratulations to Marvin on a terrific career and wish him lots of rest and relaxation with his newly free weekends. -- Bill Pratt

I'm SO glad to hear that Marvin will join us in Bowling Green on Father's Day weekend for the Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion, presented by Soffseal (sorry, had to get the plug in). I'm hoping to be there myself, chemo willing.
