IHRA D2 gears up for stops at Immokalee, Carolina, Bradenton and Darlington on Summit Pro-Am Tour

NORWALK, Ohio (November 15, 2013) – The International Hot Rod Association announced today the official schedule for the Division 2 Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL that will include four stops at familiar tracks throughout the southeast. Those stops include Immokalee Regional Raceway, Carolina Dragway, Bradenton Motorsports Park and Darlington Dragway.

All events will feature a double race weekend with full races on Saturday and Sunday. Racers that finish within the top three in their divisional points will earn an automatic bid to the 2014 Summit Racing Equipment Tournament of Champions at Memphis International Raceway in October.

"I am very excited to be part of the team at IHRA and specifically my duties as director of Division 2," said Jim Woods, IHRA Division 2 Director. "As a longtime competitor in IHRA and as someone who is quite familiar with the racers and facilities in the region, I am looking forward to developing relationships with everyone and strengthening the division and IHRA's presence in the southeast."

The 2014 Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour season will officially kickoff the weekend of January 31-February 2 with a return to Ralph Hester's famous Immokalee Regional Raceway. The popular track in southern Florida will host racers of all divisions as Hester once again opens his doors to all racers regardless of home division who can claim the double race weekend as an in-division claim. Racers will also be able to partake in Hester's famous hospitality and racer celebrations held during the weekend.

Next up on the Heat Wave tour will be a stop at Carolina Dragway the weekend of February 28-March 2 at the track known around the racing community as the "House of Hook." The Jackson, South Carolina track will once again welcome racers to one of the most beautiful racing facilities in the country.

The third stop on the Division 2 schedule is Bradenton Motorsports Park which will run in conjunction with the IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series the weekend of April 11-13. For the second year in a row the IHRA will be returning to the spacious and well-groomed facility as racers do battle on the big stage in front of the huge Nitro Jam crowds on Saturday followed by a second race held on Sunday.

Finally, the fourth and final stop on the Division 2 schedule will be Darlington Dragway during its traditional Labor Day weekend of August 29-31. Featuring one of the largest car counts in the division, the Labor Day shootout at Darlington Dragway will once again close the Heat Wave season as racers prepare for the final opportunity to collect valuable points and secure a spot in the Summit Tournament of Champions in October of 2014.
