Boland, Hinbest, Wicke, and Orfanidis lead qualifying at Summer Showdown


 
Racing continues today at US 131 Motorsports Park for PMRA,
Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and PBSS in drag race event
 
MARTIN, MICHIGAN ( June 9, 2012) – Qualifying sessions for the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman SUeries presented by NAPA Auto Parts, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series presented by Wiseco Performance Products were held at US 131 Motorsports Park yesterday. 
 
This is the first time this popular Michigan track has hosted the three series, and is part of the track's Summer Showdown this weekend.
 
Pacing the PMRA Pro Modifieds is Bruce Boland of Stoney Creek, Ontario, who posted a 5.99-second, 229.33-mph pass in his 1941 Willys. Following the three-time PMRA champion is Jeff Roth of New Hamburg, Ontario, also in a 1941 Willys. The Camaro of Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario is next and Jack Grainy of Basom, New York and Don Klooster of Kalamazoo, Michigan round out the top five.
 
On the Top Dragster side of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, Michael Hinbest of Orangeville, Ontario leads in qualifying after posting a 6.26-second, 223.23-mph. Next for the 16-car field is Dave Leverentz of Irving, New York, with Scott Wildgust of Wartburg, Ontario in third. Fourth at present is Billy White, also of Wartburg, and Melanie Simmons of Orillia, Ontario is in fifth.
 
Two-time Quick 32 Sportsman Series champion Kevin Wicke of Stratford posted the number one time in Top Sportsman with his Dodge Stratus, recording a 6.83-second, 201.64-mph run. Spencer Hyde, also of Stratford is next with his Camaro, and Dave Bell of Grand Bend, Ontario is third. Darryl McMillen of Goderich, Ontario is presently fourth, and Ken Langlois of Milan, Michigan is fifth with his Corvette.
 
John Orfanidis of Toronto, Ontario qualified number one in the PBSS, posting a 7.79-second, 166.64 run on his Pro Bike Suzuki. Dan Cryderman of Thamesville, Ontario is next with his Pro Bike Suzuki, and Bob McDonald, of Woodstock, Ontario, is third, also on a Suzuki in Pro Bike. The Pro Sled Ski Doo snowmobile of Chris Bondi of Aurora, Ontario is fourth, and Bill Anderson rode his Pro Sled Arctic Cat to fifth spot.
 
Final qualifiers will be held Saturday June 9 at 2 p.m., with round one of eliminations scheduled for 3:30 pm.
 
General admission tickets are $20 Saturday. Children 12 and under are admitted free. As part of its 50th anniversary, US 131 Motorsports Park is offering exclusive Champions Club VIP seating Saturday. This $50 package includes admission, a pit pass, buffet with drinks, and a special commemorative 50th US 131 Motorsports Park hat.
