NHRA HOT ROD HERITAGE SERIES ADDS TOP FUEL EVENT AT SPOKANE COUNTY RACEWAY

Auto Club Famoso to Host Season Finale for Groups 1 & 2

GLENDORA, Calif. (Feb. 15, 2012) — NHRA officials announced today two significant changes to the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series schedule for 2012.  NHRA will add a Nostalgia Top Fuel event at Spokane County Raceway and also has scheduled the season’s final event for groups 1 & 2 to be hosted by Auto Club Famoso Raceway near Bakersfield, Calif.

Spokane County Raceway will host the second event for the Top Fuel class, June 22-24, bringing the total number of events for the class to five. The class, and the series kick off the season at the famed March Meet at Auto Club Famoso Raceway, March 1-4, with a new four-day format.  The new event in Airway Heights, Wash., will be held in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Spokane County Raceway.

For the second year in a row, Auto Club Famoso Raceway also will play host to the season-ending event for Groups 1 & 2 of the series, Oct. 5-7, two weeks prior to the series-ending California Hot Rod Reunion presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California produced by and benefiting the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum.

“We are excited to announce these two changes to the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage schedule,” said Peter Clifford, executive vice president and general manager, NHRA. “The addition of Spokane County Raceway helps us fill an early season gap in the schedule and Auto Club Famoso Raceway is the original home of nostalgia drag racing and the perfect place to close out our season.”
