WCOPMA racers headed to Vegas SCSN

West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association racers head to Vegas for the Street Car Super Nationals VII

Las Vegas, NV – The West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association will have a strong supporting crew at this years biggest door car event on the west coast, the 7th annual Street Car Super Nationals event in Las Vegas, November 17-21.

The defending SCSN Pro Street champion and 2011 WCOPMA champion Rod Burbage will be in attendance looking to defend his title and be the first pro street winner to repeat at this prestigious event. But with the level of competition that has stepped up this 2011 season there will be many of Burbage’s close racers and friends looking to knock him off the pedestal which include Marc Meadors in his “Pure Hell 2” Camaro who has been running strong all year and is looking to be in the later rounds come Sunday.

Mike Maggio is the 2011 PSCA Pro Street champion and ran at two WCOPMA events in 2011 while completely dominating the Somona event in July after qualifying number 1, winning the race and resetting association records in the process of it all. You can bet the MagCo Drilling team is looking to get a big win at this years SCSN event.

Sean Renteria and Scott Bailey have both stepped up with screw blowers this season and with the help of Jon Salemi with Resolution Racing Services (who tuned Kirk Wilmes to a win at this event in 2008) they should both be contenders.

Dan Myers had a good season while setting career best numbers and has the combo to be a contender with his unique 1957 Cameo pickup truck. Dan Nickelson is back on the track and after dipping into the 5-second zone this year in his 2002 Viper he is anticipating a good outing at the SCSN. Lee Smith is one of the few roots blown cars to keep up with all the screw blown power plants in the WCOPMA but after going 6.11 at his last outing he is excited to try his luck in Vegas, this will be his third SCSN appearance. Bret Williamson is the 2010 WCOPMA champion and will be in the mix of things with the Williamson & Gore 53 Studebaker. Long time pro street racer Monty Berney will have “Bertha III” (his famous blue and while 55 Chevy) in Vegas mixing it up with the best in the west.

The two quickest nitrous cars in the WCOPMA will both be in attendance at the SCSN event, Joe Lepone Jr. will be behind the wheel of the D-Bar-D Racing 70.5 Camaro and after resetting the A/PM record and running career best numbers you know they are banking on a good weekend. Also, Randy Walker will be there with his new 1974 El Camino tuned by the legend Charles Carpenter and he too has seen career best numbers this 2011 season but nowhere near the potential of what that car will run.

There will also be a brand new car out of the Northern California area that will be making its debut at the Street Car Super Nationals with a long time WCOPMA regular and front runner behind the wheel who did not race with the WCOPMA this 2011 season.

The Street Car Super Nationals kicks off Thursday with the “Pro Street Shootout” where all Pro Street cars have one pass to be the quickest or fastest. $500 will be awarded for the quickest pass and $500 will be awarded to the fastest pass and if history repeats itself usually the quickest pass ends up being the fastest making someone $1000 richer before qualifying even begins.

Friday will host 2 qualifying passes for all classes and Saturday will be the final 2 qualifying passes where the fields will be set. Racing gets underway on Sunday. For more information visit www.StreetCarSuperNationals.com.
