COURTNEY FORCE TO DROP THE PUCK AT LOS ANGELES KINGS GAME THURSDAY NIGHT AT STAPLES CENTER

GLENDORA, Calif. (Nov. 10, 2011) — They are both fast, extreme sports. One is conducted on ice and the other on asphalt. Their worlds collide on Thursday, Nov. 10 at Staples Center when NHRA Generation Nitro star Courtney Force will drop the opening puck prior to the start of the Los Angeles Kings vs. Vancouver Canucks game at 7:30 p.m.

Force, 23, the youngest daughter of John Force, earned a Top Alcohol Dragster victory in Seattle in 2009 and is expected to make her Funny Car debut in 2012.

The ceremonial puck drop will kick off “championship weekend” as the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series will visit the Los Angeles area for its season finale, the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals, Nov. 10-13 at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.  Currently, there are extremely tight battles for the Full Throttle Championships in Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock Motorcycle. All will be decided on Sunday, Nov. 13, the final day of the final race of the season.

As part of the promotion, NHRA will have its “Nitro Street Team” in the Staples Center concourse where fans can pick up $7 discount flyers for the weekend’s event, redeemable at the ticket booth at Auto Club Raceway the days of the event.

Fans can also purchase general admission, reserved-seat and Top Eliminator Club tickets for the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at both NHRATIX.com and by calling the NHRA Ticket Sales Center at (800) 884-NHRA. Tickets for children 12 and under are free with any paid adult ticket.
