A few weeks ago the name George the "Stone Age Man" Hutcheson rose up in group discussions. Now most of you who were not from SoCal may or may not have a clue who George was. For those of us who made Lions, Irwindale, OCIR and The Pond our stomping grounds, we did. He was one of those guys you liked within the first minute of your introduction. He was a die hard drag racer who, like most of us, faded like a shooting star decades ago due to lack of funding. But he did put his notch in the head board of drag racing and it is my pleasure to offer:

The Stone Age Man - George Hutcheson

This is his story, told by his nephew, and it includes photos of his rides and videos of the US Turbine 1. If you find George (who is now 71) fascinating then you're in luck. I convinced him (in spite of the fact he had surgery for prostate cancer in May) to come from New Mexico to the CHRR (his first)... thank you Steve Gibbs. Be sure to make a point of talking to him - make him feel welcome. Also, he called Bill Carter today and convinced him to come... another first. Folks, this is what the CHRR is all about!
