Nitro Jam welcomes two new markets to 2013 schedule

Bradenton, Memphis added to exciting Nitro Jam lineup

NORWALK, Ohio (October 19, 2012) – After three years of unprecedented growth and unparalleled motorsports entertainment, Feld Motor Sports is pleased to announce an exciting 2013 Nitro Jam schedule that includes two new markets and a return to some of the top motorsports facilities in North America.

Highlighting the 2013 schedule is a return to the Sunshine State with a trip to Bradenton Motorsports Park in the spring and the addition of Memphis International Raceway in Memphis, Tenn., the 20th most populous city in the country, to the Nitro Jam lineup in the fall. The 2013 Nitro Jam schedule will also include stops in Arizona, Texas, Pennsylvania, Alberta, Ontario and Michigan during a season that begins in March and runs through October.

"Over the past three years we have seen Nitro Jam grow from a series struggling to find an identity to one of the most exciting motorsports shows around and that is something we want to continue and grow moving forward," said IHRA President Aaron Polburn. "We have a very strong schedule for 2013 that includes regular stops at popular locations such as San Antonio and Edmonton and two new markets in Florida and Tennessee that we are excited to add to the schedule.

"They are wonderful additions to our core Nitro Jam tracks. Both are very attractive venues with an excellent staff and savvy promoters. Fans in both markets haven't had a good dose of nitro and fire for several years and we intend to cure that."

The Nitro Jam lineup will continue to feature a unique assortment of nitro-powered machines in addition to jets, wheelstanders and many more thrilling motorsports acts unique to each market. Nitro Jam will also retain its "race only" format with two rounds of racing and a different winner crowned each night.

"This year is all about taking that 'wow' factor to the next level," Polburn said. "There is no denying that fans go nuts for nitro and fire and we intend to give them more of that than ever before. Each market will have its own unique set of things that make you go 'wow' and at the end of the night we want our fans to go home saying 'I can't believe I just saw that' and hopefully turn them into drag racing fans for life."

For the second year in a row Southwestern International Raceway in Tucson, Ariz. will kick off the 2013 Nitro Jam season with a one-night-only show on Saturday, March 23. After two straight sold out events, SIR returns to the schedule with another great drag racing showcase featuring some of the west coast's brightest stars.

A unique lineup of nitro, jets and more will once again 'wow' Nitro Jam fans in 2013

SIR will be followed by a return trip to San Antonio Raceway in San Antonio, Texas the weekend of April 5-6. Similar to the track in Tucson, San Antonio Raceway is coming off of two straight years of record crowds and will once again welcome Nitro Jam's best to the Lone Star State.

Following the event in Texas the Nitro Jam series will head to one of two new stops on the tour when the stars of Nitro Jam travel to Bradenton Motorsports Park in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area the weekend of April 19-20. After a year off, Nitro Jam will once again light up the Sunshine State in the spring.

Pittsburgh Raceway Park in Pittsburgh, Pa. will host Nitro Jam's other one-night-only show a few weeks later on Saturday, June 1.

In July the Nitro Jam series will shift to the Canadian portion of the tour with two three-day stops at two of the biggest events of the year. Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta – Nitro Jam's biggest racing weekend – will host the best racers in western Canada and the U.S. the weekend of July 5-7 and Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, Ontario will welcome the series the weekend of July 19-21.

The 2013 Nitro Jam series will wrap-up at two of the most spectacular facilities on the Nitro Jam tour at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park and, for the first time ever, Memphis International Raceway. U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich. will welcome the series the weekend of August 9-10 and Memphis International Raceway will host the 2013 IHRA World Finals for professional and sportsman competitors the weekend of October 11-12.

In addition to a thrilling professional show, the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL and other sportsman racing will be featured at most all Nitro Jam events on the schedule. More details regarding professional and sportsman classes will be announced soon.
