Drivers gun it to Firebird for legal, supervised drag racing
It is 9 p.m. on a hot and humid Friday night. Sports cars, pickup trucks and family sedans await their turn, lined up two by two as if boarding an ark stamped 'Made in Detroit.' They are here for a quarter-mile thrill ride, 16 seconds of flat-out speed where if pedal's not touching metal, something is wrong.
