UPDATE REGARDING 2012 NHRA JEGS PACIFIC SPORTSNATIONALS

GLENDORA, Calif. (March 28, 2012) – NHRA continues to have discussions with officials at Auto Club Dragway at Auto Club Speedway regarding the 2012 NHRA JEGS Pacific SPORTSnationals event, scheduled Oct. 12-14.   Recognizing the facility’s situation, the world’s largest motorsports sanctioning body also has begun discussions with several other NHRA Member Tracks in Division 7 regarding taking over as host of the event.
“NHRA is evaluating all possible options regarding the JEGS Pacific SPORTSnationals,” said Mike Rice, NHRA Pacific Division Director. “With that said, and for planning purposes, the event will take place on that same weekend, Oct. 12-14.”   NHRA hopes to have a resolution on the location in the coming weeks.
The event is the last of three NHRA JEGS SPORTSnationals held across the country in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.  Earlier this month, the JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals was held at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, La. with more than 500 racers in attendance.  The next NHRA JEGS SPORTSnationals is scheduled for Sept. 21-23 at National Trails Raceway outside Columbus, Ohio.
