Top Dragster team to run nitrous-assisted big block in drag race series
STRATFORD, ONTARIO (March 7, 2012) Mike Everitt is planning on going faster this year than he ever has in drag racing.
With a new Top Dragster, Everitt will be competing in his first year of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, and he said he is looking forward to his season.
We've been following the series, and to wanted to jump into it, said Everitt, who will drive the Everitt Racing Team car. We bought the car late last year, and only have a couple of laps on it.
Although he has raced since 2004, the dragster will be a new experience for the former doorcar racer. He did race a slower dragster, but has not experienced the under seven-second times this car should be capable of.
I've been down the track a million times, he said, but not in this car. We've got a lot to learn and we'll have to get used to this car.
The 2008 Mullis Race Cars chassis holds a 632-cubic inch engine with Dart Big Chief oval Race Flow Development equipment, and utilizes a Hutch's Transmission Service two-speed Powerglide-based transmission. A large carburetor sits atop the engine, and employs a Speedtech Nitrous system. Everitt added the engine has been dismantled and is getting freshened up, but the team will be ready for opening day.
Crew chief for the car is Mike's father Ken Everitt. The rest of the crew consists of Dean Wilson, Frank Wilson, Bob Robinson and Tyler Kawalez, along with Sheila Everitt. Sponsorship for the team is provided by Morrison/Everitt Ltd. and Wilson Salvage.
The team realizes the competition in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series has become stronger since it began in 2009, and will try to make its mark in the upcoming season.
The bar keeps getting raised, said Everitt. And I think this year it's going to be raised some more.
The Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts kicks off its 2012 season with the Victoria Day Weekend Challenge May 18-20 at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park, the first of six events.
The Quick 32 Sportsman Series, www.Quick32.ca will race six times in 2012. The series also competes with its two companion series, the Pro Modified Racing Association, www.PMRA.ca and the Pro Bike & Sled Series, www.PBSS.ca offering a solid and full package of drag racing action.
