GLENDORA, Calif. (March 26, 2012) – NHRA announced today that Kristen Wentzell, a veteran in media planning, advertising and promotions with more than a decade of experience, has joined the world’s largest motorsports sanctioning body as director of advertising and promotions.
As director of advertising and promotions, her primary focus will be to increase tickets sales at national events through creative and innovative strategies designed to reach the core as well as a broader fan base. Wentzell will work in partnership with national event track owners and operators on all advertising and promotions for the 23-race NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.
Wentzell, who will relocate with her family to Southern California from St. Paul, Minn., comes to NHRA after spending nearly three years with Harlem Globetrotters International where she served as marketing director. In that capacity, she was responsible for planning and executing media and marketing campaigns in nearly 30 markets annually. While at the Harlem Globetrotters, Wentzell negotiated television, radio and print advertising, as well as all other marketing relationships. She also played an integral role in the development of grassroots marketing outreach to target demographics through a number of innovative programs including social media and online.
Prior to the Harlem Globetrotters, Wentzell worked for seven years with VEE Corp., developing sales and marketing strategies for live family entertainment touring stage productions, including Sesame Street Live. Wentzell graduated with a bachelor of science degree in business from the University of Minnesota.
