With Record Breaking Performance in Rear-View Mirror, Dan Runte Returns to ‘Favorite’ Track with BIGFOOT

Runte, who Piloted BIGFOOT 16 to World Monster Truck Land Speed Record in October, Takes Aim at Talented Competition during 2010 NAPA Auto Parts Monster Truck World Finals

GILA RIVER INDIAN COMMUNITY – April 13, 2010 – When people think of the BIGFOOT team of monster trucks, minds quickly turn to awesome power, insane wheelies, ravaged cars, crazy air and general monster truck mayhem.

But when discussing the BIGFOOT #16 driven by Dan Runte, another factor must be considered – pure speed!  On April 24-25th, Runte will bring that combination of speed and raw power to Firebird International Raceway during the 2010 NAPA Auto Parts Monster Truck Nationals.

Runte, who calls Firebird International Raceway one of his three favorite tracks to perform on, recently set a new world monster truck land speed record during a drag race against the Firestone Snake Bite on Oct. 25th at the Texas MotorPlex in Enis, Texas. Runte and BIGFOOT eclipsed the record by running an 8.261 at 84.49 mph!

Considered “…the most daring driver” on the BIGFOOT team, Runte holds three other Monster Truck Guinness World Records, including “Longest ramp jump in a monster truck” at 202’ long.

Runte and BIGFOOT will have a couple of fast competitors gunning for them during the NAPA Auto Parts Monster Truck Nationals, including The Bounty Hunter, driven by Jim Creten, and Avenger, driven by Jim Koehler.  Both monster trucks advanced to the second round of the Monster Jam World Finals racing competition this past March in Las Vegas, downing Monster Mutt and Madusa respectively to reach the second round.

Koehler, who impressed Firebird fans with his daring performances last year, was also named Stadium Freestyler of the Year by Monster Jam.

BIGFOOT, Bounty Hunter and Avenger lead a talented field into the NAPA Auto Parts Monster Truck Nationals, but motor sports fans would be mistaken if they believed monster trucks were the only attractions coming to Firebird this April!

The two-day event may literally have something for everyone including jet car racing, drag racing, off-road racing, a unique midway, a show-and-shine and a Party in the Pits on both days, where fans can get autographs and pictures with the drivers from their favorite truck.

The big Saturday night show also will get fans ready for summer thanks to a jaw-dropping fireworks display.  To purchase tickets on-line, or to learn more, please visit http://www.firebirdraceway.com. Information and tickets are also available by calling 602-268-0200.
