Rochester, New York-based Top Dragster team hopes to continue with success of last year
ROCHESTER, NEW YORK (April 24, 2010) – The dragster team of Morgan and Forrest had a successful first year in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, and team crew chief Doug Morgan said he and driver Buddy Forrest are prepared to take the momentum into this year’s tour.
“We’re ready to rock,” said Morgan, who along with Forrest race in the series’ Top Dragster class. “We’re looking forward to it. We had a successful season last year.”
The Rochester, New York-based team competes with a Spitzer Enterprises dragster, powered by a 638-cubic inch Chevy engine using a nitrous oxide system. The power goes through a two-speed Powerglide to the rear slicks.
The team did not compete in the first event of 2009, but had a good showing for the remaining five events in the six-event tour, qualifying for all other races. Along with a runner-up spot in the Top Dragster class during the Labor Day race at Grand Bend, the team finished the season in style with an overall win during the final Quick 32 Sportsman Series race late in September at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.
Morgan said there are no major changes to the car for 2010.
“We’re going to be running pretty well the same as last year,” he mentioned. “We’ll have the same cast and crew.”
Along with Morgan as chief, the crew includes Allen and Chad Forrest. Precise Tool and Manufacturing Inc. of Rochester will remain the team’s main sponsor.
Morgan also noted he and Forrest have been teamed for 10 years now, and added that the timing of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series was excellent for the former IHRA racers.
“The series is fantastic,” he said. “It popped up at exactly the right time.”
Morgan and Forrest will be ready to take on the competition for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series opener, at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario on the Victoria Day Weekend May 21-23.
