McClenathan claims No. 4 in Vegas qualifying

LAS VEGAS (April 17, 2010) - NHRA Top Fuel points leader Cory McClenathan placed the FRAM Top Fuel dragster in the No. 4 position after four rounds of qualifying for the 11th annual NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

He recorded his quickest pass of 3.912 seconds at 308.07 mph in Friday's second round. His first round on Friday produced a 4.004/300.60 (No. 2) and today's two attempts also under hot conditions resulted in a 4.022/295.34 (No. 4) and a 3.950/305.63, the second quickest of that round. He earned four bonus points for his efforts.

"Once again, we've come into a weekend and tried to qualify well, which we've done; pick up a few points here and there during qualifying, which we've done," said McClenathan, the two-time Vegas champion, "and, you know what, we have a very humble team. And I love that about these guys.

"We take one weekend at a time, one round of qualifying at a time, try to get into a good spot and come out swinging on Sunday. And that's what we're going to do tomorrow."

McClenathan faces Terry Haddock in the opening round of Sunday's eliminations.
