Jack Brohman and Nazca Racing returns to Pro Modified Racing Association

Camaro Pro Modified team to be ready for PMRA opener May 21-23

JARVIS, ONTARIO (April 11, 2010) – After a year’s absence, Jack Brohman and the Nazca Racing team will be returning to Pro Modified Racing Association action.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into it,” said Brohman, driver of the 1969 Camaro Pro Modified. “We’re hoping to be ready for the May holiday weekend at Cayuga.”

The silver Camaro body sits atop a LJ chassis, and is powered with an Alan Johnson 526-cubic inch engine with a Kobelco supercharger and ERD fuel system. A Lenco three-speed transmission sits behind the powerplant.

Brohman competed in the PMRA in 2008, and was absent from the lineup last year. But the team took part in the season-ending PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series event at Cayuga Dragway in September of 2009, running the car as a Top Sportsman entry in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts. Brohman added he was happy with the outing. The car is capable of running in both series, but the team set its sights on a return to the PMRA.

“We got down the track in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series during the last race of the year,” he said. “So we decided to get back into the PMRA.”

Brohman said the car is ready to race.

“We had Atchison (Atchison Machine Service in London, Ontario) freshen up the motor,” he said. “Everything is put back together. The car is all checked out.”

Sponsored by BrantFLO Hydraulics, along with Simington Automotive and Industrial Supply out of Hagersville, Ontario, Jack’s son Chris is the crew chief with the team. Others on the team include Nick Newman and Matt Costabile.

Brohman, who has raced in a variety of classes since 1965, mentioned he is planning on getting son Chris behind the wheel later in the 2010 season. At present, Chris will be piloting an 8.90 car to get his feet wet.

“Hopefully by the end of the year Chris will be driving the Pro Modified,” Brohman noted. “He will be driving the 8.90 car to give him some seat time, and then the plan is to get him in the Pro Modified.”

The Nazca Camaro will part of the 2010 PMRA opener, the Victoria Day Weekend - PMRA & Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts event on the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.
