Jerry Haas Race Cars (JHRC) have claimed victories in all but two of the events in Extreme Pro Stock in 2012, giving the famed chassis builder five wins and making him very happy in the process.
"It's been very exciting and it's always thrilling to have that kind of success," Haas said. "We have a good product and I think it speaks for itself.
"The points leader (Cary Goforth) is one of our cars and the car we're hauling in my trailer (Richie Stevens Jr.) is No. 2 in points. It's our deal to lose, and Richie and Cary are right there fighting for the championship."
In fact, five of the top six drivers in the Extreme Pro Stock standings are driving cars built by JHRC.
But the longtime chassis builder has had plenty of success in more than just the competitive XPS class.
Billy Glidden has set career-bests (3.85) and won the Northeast Drags in May at Maple Grove Raceway, while a true sign of JHRC's success was evident in June at the U.S. Drags at Virginia Motorsports Park.
Stevens won his first ADRL event, beating Dean Goforth and his JHRC GXP in the finals, but Haas also had winning cars in Pro Modified (Fredy Scriba) and in the Summit Racing Equipment Top Sportsman "Clash Of The Titans" (Terry Teets).
In fact, the car Teets drove to victory in the 32-car field was a car once driven by Haas.
But the bread and butter remains in XPS for Haas, who is has long been acknowledged as one of the best chassis builders in the sport and is a 12-time Car Craft Magazine All-Star chassis builder.
"I think the class is just great. John DeFlorian (who won the Summer Drags in Martin) is my shop foreman and he just pours his heart into it," Haas said. "Richie is doing a good job and the Goforths are like family. I think the world of them.
"In the 1/8-mile, the guy that doesn't have the performance edge still has a chance. You can't give up anything on the tree."
Haas remains impressed with the 2012 Camaro -- driven by DeFlorian among others -- calling it the "best thing out there right now," but his crop of new Mustangs are also just as impressive.
Doug Kirk debuted a new Mustang early in the 2012 season, while XPS standouts Brian Gahm and Scott Hintz should have their new Mustangs before the 2012 ADRL season concludes.
"It's just a combination of everything that makes it a good car," Haas said. "The body is really nice and they really look like Mustangs. Our new chassis design has helped the car quite a bit as well."
