19th Annual AHDRA Northwest Nitro Nationals

The Harleys were running wild August 24th, 25th, and 26th as the 19th Annual AHDRA Northwest Nitro Nationals, presented by Oak Grove Choppers, Fast Bikes Inc., and Mulligans and More. In the Screamin’ Eagle Top Fuel final round, Steve Dorn took his 2006 Harley to a 6.495 at 213.42 for the win over Devin Pelrine, who had set low E.T. earlier in the race with a 6.476. Mike Pelrine was the top speed earner with a 235.23MPH blast. Not much else could be said about the Rush Pro Fuel category race other than Craig Pelrine and domination. Craig qualified number 1 with a 6.614 at 214.84, with both numbers holding on as low E.T. and top speed of the event, and then Craig took it all the way to a victory over a broken Tiny Froehling. Michael McClellan emerged victorious in the AHDRA Pro Stock category after Dave Brill was unable to get the bike onto the track. Nick Stute was the number 1 qualifier with an 8.184 at 160.88mph. In the Hawaya Racing Pro Drag category, Dale Nilles used a .079 startling line advantage over Janette Thornley to take the hole-shot victory, 7.460 to a quicker, but losing, 7.415. In Rush Pro Gas, Frank Capone took the single in the final after Stan Sheppard’s bike broke. Sheppard was the number one qualifier with an 8.163 at 155.30MPH. Capone just missed the double up in AHDRA Pro Mod as he was the runner up to number one qualifier Joey Thompson, who ran low E.T. of the event at an 8.469 to take the victory.

In the Right Quick Street Pro category, Verl Smith, who also took the victory in the Hot Street category, had a single in the final after Bruce Croneberger III was unable to make the final round. To say that Bill Rowe Jr. was a little busy this weekend would be an understatement. The veteran rider was involved in six other classes, and four final round appearances, including his win in the AHDRA Super Sport category, where he downed number two qualifier Jack Britton. In the Bison Racing Super Gas race, Dennis Waldron took the victory over Bill Rowe Jr., after both riders ran identical 10.22’s. Victoria Bentz was the number one qualifier with a 9.706 at 128.38. In Rush Super Eliminator, Sue Bistline overcame losing .06 on the starting line to take the win over Chuck Robbins. Brad Croneberger took the win in the Screamin’ Eagle Super Eliminator Pro category over Bill Rowe Jr. and Rowe went -.003 red on the starting line. In the Screamin’ Eagle Destroyer category, Gary Tokos went wire-to-wire to take the victory over Bill Rowe Jr. Tokos set low E.T. and Speed in qualifying with a 9.585 at 136.79. Mike Smith took the win over Bill Fournier in the Screamin’ Eagle V-Rod category after Fournier encountered troubles in his run. Fournier was the number one qualifier with an 11.751 at 113.27. In SYN 3 E.T., the number 17 and 19 qualifier found their way into the final, with Peter Halterman taking the victory over Bill Fournier after Fournier turned on the red bulb by a miniscule -.019.
