GLENDORA, Calif.—Michelle McCullough has been named media relations manager for the National Hot Rod Association, NHRA Director of Media Relations Anthony Vestal announced today.
McCullough joins the NHRA after interning the last three years at Auto Club Speedway in Southern California, where she assisted with the coordination of all NASCAR events. She also worked in the media relations department at New Mexico State University from 2007 to 2011 covering all Division I sports.
In her new position, McCullough will provide media outreach for the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, as well as support other NHRA communications programs. In addition, she will assist with research and statistical projects, maintain relationships with national media outlets and contribute to all NHRA Communications Dept. publications.
“We are pleased to welcome an enthusiastic new media relations team member to NHRA who has a great passion for motorsports,” Vestal said. “Michelle has an intense work ethic that will be critical in implementing the aggressive programs and initiatives we have developed to promote and publicize the sport of NHRA drag racing.”
McCullough received a bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in sports marketing from New Mexico State University. A native of Las Cruces, N.M., she recently relocated to the West Coast and resides in Ontario.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the NHRA,” McCullough said. “I have been involved in motorsports for most of my life and I am really looking forward to the challenge of my new role, working with some great people and gaining more experience in the media relations field.”
