Boland leads PMRA, Wicke and Lichty top Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and Staples heads up PBSS for eliminations Sunday August 5
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (August 4, 2012) The qualifying rounds in the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series presented by Wiseco Performance Products were completed today during the South Coast Community Weekend at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.
This is the fourth event for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the PBSS on the 2012 schedule, and the fifth event for the PMRA.
Heading up the PMRA is Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario with his 1941 Willys Pro Modified. Three-time champion Boland set low time in qualifying with a 6.048-second, 239.74-mph pass. Second is Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario, posting top speed of 241.76-mph with his 1969 Camaro.
Rob Atchison of London, Ontario qualified number three with his 1963 Corvette, Rocky Di Lecce of Mississauga, Ontario qualified fourth with his 1968 Camaro, and Jay Santos of Halton Hills, Ontario took fifth spot with his 1969 Camaro. Jason Kalso of Clarkston, Michigan, Derek Hawker of Corbyville, Ontario, and Sam Andreacchi of Toronto, Ontario round out the top eight positions.
Another multi-time champion, Kevin Wicke of Stratford, Ontario, drove his 2006 Dodge Stratus to number one qualifier on the Top Sportsman side of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series. His 6.847-second, 203.09 pass nailed down the top qualifying position. Darryl McMillen of Goderich, Ontario took number two spot with his Corvette, and Mike Wagg of Waterdown, Ontario in the Wagg and Bell 1994 Dodge Daytona qualified third.
Wes Goddard of Guelph took the fourth spot in his turbocharged 1958 Nash-bodied Top Sportsman entry and set top speed in the class with a 213.37. Spencer Hyde of Stratford, Ontario qualified fifth with his 1968 Camaro.
The Altered of Linwood, Ontario's James Lichty claimed the number one qualifying spot on the Top Dragster side of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series. He posted a 6.240-second, 227.08-mph run. Scott Wildgust of Wartburg, Ontario qualified number two with his dragster, and Rick Kopp of Burlington, Ontario nailed down the number three spot.
Billy White of Wartburg qualified fourth with his dragster, and Bill Moloughney of Shawville, Quebec qualified fifth.
Qualifying number one in the PBSS race was Danny Staples of Ingersoll, Ontario. The Pro Bike rider posted a 7.923-second, 162.86-mph pass. John Orfanidis of Toronto, Ontario qualified second on his Pro Bike and set top speed with 168.98 mph. Another Pro Bike rider, Dan Cryderman of Thamesville, Ontario qualified third, Bob McDonald of Woodstock, Ontario qualified fourth with his Suzuki Pro Bike, and Ted Glinny of Milton, Ontario qualified number five with his Ninja Pro Bike.
The eliminations rounds in all three drag race series will take place Sunday, August 5, beginning at 11:15 am.
