PMRA, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and PBSS have busy upcoming weekend at Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals at Grand Bend

Drag racing series will hold regular show plus eliminations from postponed event during this popular and anticipated three-day celebration


CAYUGA, ONTARIO (August 10, 2012) – Fans of the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series presented by Wiseco Performance Products will get a double-billing of drag racing action this weekend for the popular Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals at the Grand Bend Motorplex.
 
This race, now a regular stop for on  the tour, will be the 18th annual event, and this year will not only feature a regular three-day race schedule, it will also include the elimination rounds from the rain-delayed South Coast Community Weekend event held at Cayuga Dragway last weekend.

Presented by NAPA Auto Parts and Ideal Supply, the Stratford Spectacular will be held August 10-12. As in previous years, hundreds of thousands of free admission and pit access passes have been distributed throughout the business community for this event, while fans will be charged only $20 a carload for parking. 
 
With the qualifying completed at the previous race, former PMRA champion Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, qualified number one in the postponed event, followed by Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario, and Rob Atchison of London, Ontario. Rocky Di Lecce of Mississauga, Ontario qualified fourth, and Jay Santos of Halton Hills, Ontario is qualified fifth.

Leading the PMRA points race is Boland with 1074 points. Latino is second with 1049 points, and Jeff Roth of New Dundee, Ontario is third with 1033 points. Jack Grainy of North Tonawanda, New York is fourth with 1016 points, and Di Leece is fifth with 1014 points.

Another former champion, Kevin Wicke of Stratford, Ontario, took the number one qualifying spot on the Top Sportsman side of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series with his Dodge Stratus. Darryl McMillen of Goderich, Ontario placed second, and Mike Wagg of Waterdown, Ontario qualified third.
 
In the Top Dragster segment of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, James Lichty of Linwood, Ontario claimed the top qualifying spot, followed by Scott Wildgust of Wartburg, Ontario, and Rick Kopp of Burlington, Ontario.

Leading the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts Championship Point Award Series Standings at present is the Orillia, Ontario Top Dragster team of Katie Ward and Michael Hinbest with 698 points, followed by Top Sportsman driver Spencer Hyde of Stratford, Ontario with 658 points, Mike Everitt of Stratford with 645 points with his Top Dragster, Wicke with 640 points, and Top Sportsman driver Dan Aitken Jr of Belle River, Ontario with 632 points.

Danny Staples of Ingersoll, Ontario rode his Pro Bike to the number one qualifying spot at Cayuga to lead the PBSS for its next set of eliminations. The Pro Bike entries of John Orfanidis of Toronto, Ontario, and Dan Cryderman of Thamesville, Ontario, are second and third.

Orfanidis has a slim lead in the Pro Bike & Sled Series Championship Point Award Series Standings with 600 markers, followed by Pro Sled rider Chris Bondi of Aurora, Ontario with 596 points. Another Pro Sled rider, Jeff Lippert of Amherstburg, Ontario is third in points with 586, fourth is the team of Staples and Kevin McKay with 578 points, and Pro Bike rider Alex Cassels of Sunridge, Ontario is fifth with 569 points.

Qualifying for the Stratford Spectacular event this weekend gets underway Friday, August 10 at 7:15. More qualifying takes place Saturday August 11 at 4 and 7 pm, and eliminations are scheduled to take place Sunday August 12 at 11:15 am, and 2 and 4:30 pm.
 
Complimentary spectator event tickets are available at businesses in Stratford and the surrounding areas, or by contacting the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series or the Pro Bike & Sled Series.

General parking is $20 per car load and weekend camping is available.
