Friday action washed out, Saturday's CarSafe Northern Nitro Jam to feature one jam-packed day of racing
Nitro Jam pro classes wrap up season at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park
MARTIN, Mich. (August 10, 2012) – Round one belongs to Mother Nature. Round two will most certainly belong to Nitro Jam.
Just moments after drying the track Friday for the start of the CarSafe Northern Nitro Jam at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park, the skies opened up for a second time during a hurricane-like storm that swirled between the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron with the track caught in the middle. Due to that persistent wet weather, Friday's action at the CarSafe Northern Nitro Jam has been rained out.
Fans with Friday tickets can redeem them during Saturday's Nitro Jam and fans with Friday reserved seating are asked to go to the U.S. 131 Motorsports Park main office upon arrival to the track on Saturday.
While Friday's weather was certainly disappointing, Saturday has a beautiful forecast that is calling for perfect drag racing temperatures during a jam-packed day of professional and sportsman drag racing.
With Friday's action washed out, the championships for all of the Nitro Jam professional classes will come down to two passes Saturday night with the world championship on the line. Saturday's CarSafe Northern Nitro Jam will follow the same schedule as posted with sportsman racing set to begin at 9 a.m., the Fan Fest Pit Party set for 5:30 p.m. and two rounds of Nitro Jam beginning at 7 p.m. An additional pro test session has been added to the schedule for teams wishing to participate beginning at noon.
Saturday's Northern Nitro Jam finale will feature four professional nitro-burning classes including Pro Fuel Dragster, AMSOIL Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car, Nostalgia Fuel Altered and Nitro Harley all looking for record times and a shot at an Ironman trophy. Last year one of the quickest passes in Funny Car history took place under similar conditions.
All four classes will make two passes Saturday night in addition to the thrilling showmanship of the 30,000 horsepower Shockwave jet-powered semi and the U.S. 131 Motorsports Park debut of the world's biggest drag race between Grave Digger and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle monster trucks.
Don't miss a jam-packed day of racing at the CarSafe Northern Nitro Jam Saturday at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park.
