White is first hire in the new technical department headquarters in Indianapolis
GLENDORA, Calif. (May 4, 2011) — NHRA announced today that Timothy M. White has been hired as director of engineering, the first hire in the recently established technical department headquarters in Indianapolis. Earlier this year, NHRA announced the move of its technical department to offices at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis to better serve the needs of the racing community at all levels of competition.
In the newly-created position, White will serve as NHRA’s technical expert with respect to all racing electronics. He joins NHRA with extensive experience working on varied and complex engineering projects with major companies. Most recently, White was a lead engineer for Cummins Emission Solutions, Inc. (CES). Prior to that, he served as the electronic engineer for Penske Racing and their IndyCar program.
“Bringing someone with Tim’s experience and talent to NHRA’s technical department is a direct result of our decision to establish a technical headquarters in Indianapolis,” said Glen Gray, vice president of technical operations, NHRA. White will report directly to Gray, who will be relocating to the Lucas Oil Raceway office this summer.
White will work directly with race teams, manufacturers, SFI and other members of the NHRA Technical Department on the development of new technology initiatives as well as managing the Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock Accident Data Recorder (ADR) program. White began his career as a manufacturing engineer for Delphi Delco Electronics Automotive Systems and has nearly 25 years of experience, including significant time spent in motorsports and motorsports electronics.
