Super Chevy Show Set for June 4-5 at Texas Motorplex
ENNIS, Texas (May 26, 2011) – Texas Motorplex has tabbed Equipe Rapide to run the autocross course at the 2011 Super Chevy Show, June 4-5. The course will be open to all Super Chevy Show participants – as well as driver's wanting to only compete in autocross – between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
There will be several categories for autocrossers of all levels to enter including a ladies category, novice and pro. Winners will receive plaques for each category at the end of both days.
Autocross is just one of many exciting elements that make up each Super Chevy Show event, including car show, show-n-shine, swap meet, car corral, drag racing and more. Autocross courses are designed to challenge handling, performance and driving ability as each participant goes through the solo, timed course.
"Equipe Rapide is one of the top sports car clubs in the DFW region and we think having them at the Super Chevy Show event this year will give our racers, car show and other participants another challenge during the weekend," Texas Motorplex GM Gabrielle Stevenson said. "Super Chevy Show has something to offer all of our spectators and fans and autocross is just one more exciting attraction."
The Equipe Rapide Sports Car Club was formed in 1967 and incorporated in 1995, with a large DFW membership that focuses on autocross and other solo racing events.
Texas Motorplex was the first all-concrete stadium-style drag racing facility ever constructed. Built in 1986, Texas Motorplex has been the place of many drag racing milestones and world record performances. The Billy Meyer-owned facility hosts a number of racing and car show events between March and November each year and also features the Champion’s Club – an 11,000 square-foot facility – that serves fully catered events throughout the year.
