Once again, consistency will be the key to success in drag racing
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (May 13, 2011) – Consistency is a major part of success in drag racing compared to other forms of motorsport.
And consistency was a winning factor for last year's opening rounds in the Pro Modified Racing Association and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series.
Winning the first event in PMRA racing last year was Eric Latino. "We had a good day," noted the 1937 Chevy coupe driver about his victory at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park. "We played it safe, we were consistent, and the car went down the track every single pass."
Winner of the 2010 Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts opener concurred with Latino with regards to consistency.
"We had an awesome day," noted Paolo Giust of Osgoode, Ontario. "The car was deadly consistent."
And consistency will play an important role for all racers during the upcoming Victoria Day Weekend Challenge May 20-22 at Cayuga Dragway. The event will open up the seventh season of the PMRA, the third season for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the inaugural session of the new Pro Bike & Sled Series for motorcycles and snow mobiles.
Latino, of Port Perry, Ontario, qualified third in the PMRA field last year, and eliminated Derek Hawker of Corbyville, Ontario in the final. Driving his Top Dragster entry, Giust won over Steve Corriveau of Smithville, Ontario, with his Top Sportsman car.
These drivers, plus many others, will be on hand and ready to do battle for the first event of the six-race 2011 season.
The Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), www.PMRA.ca, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, www.Quick32.ca, and the Bike & Sled Series (PBSS), www.PBSS.ca, will headline the Victoria Day Weekend event, which will include a round in the TNT Super Series, and the popular Can-Am Stock/Super Stock Series.
Qualifying for the two-day event gets underway Saturday, May 21, at 2:00 p.m., with other sessions at 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. Elimination rounds for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series start Sunday May 22 at 11:15 a.m. and the PMRA and the PBSS at 1:00 p.m.
