CarSafe, CarSafe Motorsports and the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) jointly announced on Tuesday that they have created a fundraising program in light of the most recent storm tragedies that have taken place most recently in Joplin, Mo. and across the Midwest
A special donations webpage, www.CarSafe.tv/redcross or www.isyourcarsafe.com/redcross, has been made and donations to the Red Cross will be accepted from ADRL fans and teams to assist families in this time of need.
Additionally, the ADRL, CarSafe and CarSafe Motorsports will be working with the Red Cross during the upcoming Kansas National Guard Independence Drags V, which takes place June 17-18 at Heartland Park Topeka. Volunteers from the Red Cross will be at the event in Topeka, Kan., to assist in fundraising efforts for victims of the numerous storms and tornadoes that have ravaged the Midwest this spring.
"We are saddened by these recent tragedies and all those who were affected, including many close to CarSafe and the ADRL, and we wanted to help in some way," CarSafe CEO and President Mark Eckman said. "There are so many people who are now without a home or shelter, and have lost loved ones, and we appreciate the efforts and donations from everyone during this time.
"Working with ADRL executives and the Red Cross, we have come up with a great plan to help as many people in need as we can."
In addition to introducing the donations webpage, CarSafe, CarSafe Motorsports and the ADRL will be working with local media in Kansas City and Topeka to promote their fundraising efforts leading up to and during the national event on June 17-18.
The Red Cross will also be featured in a special wrap and on the crew uniforms of two CarSafe Motorsports competitors, ADRL Extreme Pro Stock driver Richie Stevens and ADRL Pro Extreme Motorcycle rider Kim Morrell, during the upcoming Kansas National Guard Independence Drags.
Eckman expressed his concern for the victim's in Joplin, Mo. and other areas such as New Orleans, the hometown for Stevens, and Tuscaloosa, Ala., which was struck by tornadoes and is the hometown of top ADRL competitor Shannon Jenkins.
"We are glad to be working with Mark, CarSafe and the Red Cross and we hope all ADRL fans will reach out and help those in need," ADRL Executive Vice President Jeff Fortune said.
"We wanted to aid the fundraising efforts in some way and we encourage everyone to visit the webpage and make a donation."
