Norwalk, Ohio, May 12, 2011 – The International Hot Rod Association is pleased to welcome El Paso Motorplex to its family of member tracks as the sanctioning body steadily approaches record numbers for member tracks.
El Paso Motorplex, a brand new facility that will be opening its doors for the first time later this month, is the 12th different track to sign with the IHRA in 2011 as the IHRA member track list steadily approaches triple digits. The signing also brings the IHRA one step closer to adding a new division in the Summit SuperSeries as early as next year.
"We at IHRA are excited about bringing the new track in El Paso into the family. This is another step in forming a new division in the west," said Phil Gingerich, IHRA Director of Track Development. "The owners and racers are really excited to have a place to race in El Paso. The future certainly looks bright at the new facility and for the IHRA as tracks all across the nation are starting to realize the benefit of partnering with the IHRA and taking advantage of its many great racing programs."
El Paso Motorplex, located in western Texas, is an all-concrete track from starting line to the finish line. The track boasts plenty of paved pit parking with more to be added later this year. The track is also currently in the process of completing its tower, restrooms and concessions and the buzz in the community couldn't be greater as the IHRA welcomes the 12th different track in the state of Texas making the Lone Star State the most populated IHRA state in the nation.
Currently the new track will reside in Division 4 in the Summit SuperSeries with hopes of adding a brand new division in the region as early as next season.
