FIRST AEROSPACE COMPONENTS NHRA UNLEASHED EVENT AT SOUTH GEORGIA MOTORSPORTS PARK, MAY 6-7

GLENDORA, Calif. (May 3, 2011) – The first Aerospace Components NHRA Unleashed event of 2011 is set to take place on May 6-7 at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Cecil, Ga. This celebration of American Horsepower will feature the wildly popular heads-up style of drag racing with a total of nine different classes taking to the track during the course of this high energy event.

“We are very excited to start the Aerospace Components NHRA Unleashed series for the season and anxious to see the first set of winners at the end of the event,” said Ray Wilkings, director of operations Aerospace Components NHRA Unleashed. “To start the season at South Georgia Motorsports Park will also be a thrill for the racers as they battle on only one of two all concrete dragstrips in North America.”

All the racers will be battling for one of the most iconic and hardest to attain trophies in all of sport, the NHRA Wally. This trophy is a symbol of excellence in drag racing and some racers can go their entire careers without ever holding one in triumph at the end of a race. All class winners at the Aerospace Components NHRA Unleashed event will be able to proudly display their hard earned NHRA Wally on their tool box for years to come. Classes featured during the Aerospace Components NHRA Unleashed will be Moroso Performance Parts Outlaw 10.5, Limited Street, and Trick Flow x275 Class, as well as index classes for 8.50, 9.50, 10.0, 11.0, 12.0, and 13.0.

“The NHRA Wally is the heart and soul of drag racing. When a racer can say they have a Wally it brings an added level of credibility to their career,” continued Wilkings. “These trophies aren’t awarded often and will add another level of uniqueness to the thrilling Aerospace Components NHRA Unleashed events.”

On track activity begins on Friday with a test and tune taking place during the morning starting at 8 a.m. First round of qualifying for the Aerospace Components will start at 6 p.m. On Saturday spectator gates open at 9 a. m.; second and third round of qualifying will take place at 10 a.m. and 3:30. Eliminations will begin at 4 p.m. and conclude under the lights where these cars will thrill the crowd with each pass down the track. Cost for spectators is only $15 on Friday; $20 on Saturday and a Friday and Saturday pass is $30 and a Thursday – Saturday pass is also $30.
