Field of 32 set for Summit SuperSeries World Championship

32 drivers vie for Summit SuperSeries championship this weekend in Virginia

NORWALK, Ohio (October 10, 2011) – After four weeks of grueling competition across the United States and Canada, the field is finally set for the 2011 Summit SuperSeries World Championships set for this weekend at the IHRA Summit Racing Equipment World Finals presented by RacingJunk.com at Virginia Motorsports Park.

With an expanded field totaling 32 participants instead of the previous 16, the competition was at an all-time high as drivers took to the track in North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Texas, Michigan and Alberta to compete for a coveted spot in the most lucrative grassroots racing program in the country.



And following the final two Summit Team Finals events of the year this past weekend, the field of 32 is now set in the Box and No Box classes entering the IHRA World Finals this weekend.

And those participants are in Box Bill Brewster, Roger Plyler, Derek Degnitz, Amanda Fassler, Rae Caswell, Tim Richards, John Ezell, Sammy Hollingsworth, J.P. Schuster, Mark Talmadge, Kent Sessoms, Tommy Plott, Harvey Thompson, Greg Roberts, Dennis Cameron Jr. and Tim Leighty and in No Box Kevin Pollard, Scott Vaughn, Steve Doornbosch, Tanner Zwetow, Dean Smith, Chris Melnyk, Matt Hawk, Artie Vaughn, Ted Miller, Chris Black, James Hanrahan, Mark Bridgers, Johnny Castellaw, Billy Janousek, Jay Robinson and Josh Epperson.

Representing their home tracks, the 32 participants from across the country will travel to Virginia Motorsports Park this weekend to compete in the Box and No Bo championships with the title of World Champion and one of the most lucrative prize packages in all of sportsman drag racing up for grabs.

The drivers will get their first hit at the track on Saturday, October 15 with time runs throughout the afternoon. The Summit SuperSeries World Championship will take place on Sunday, October 16 with champions crowned in both classes.

The winner of the Box class will take home $10,000 from Summit Racing Equipment, a brand new dragster courtesy of Miller Race Cars, an IHRA Gold Card, World Champion Ironman and a championship ring while the winner of No Box receives $10,000 from Summit Racing Equipment, a custom golf cart, a Haulmark enclosed trailer, IHRA Gold Card, World Champion Ironman and a championship ring.
