Other No. 1 qualifiers included Khalid Al-Balooshi (Pro Nitrous), Dan Millen (Extreme 10.5), Jeremy Teasley (Pro Extreme Motorcycle), Dean Goforth (Extreme Pro Stock) and Ronnie Davis (Summit Racing Equipment Top Sportsman).
The fourth and final round of qualifying will take place at 12 p.m. on Saturday with Dragstock VIII eliminations to follow.
Taylor, the defending world champion in Pro Extreme who became the first driver in the 3.50s a year ago at Rockingham, was the No. 1 qualifier after the first session. Joey Martin momentarily took the lead with a 3.666 under the lights, but Taylor and his Jeffers Pro Cars Corvette went back to the top spot with the 3.597.
Martin's 3.666 has him in second with Jason Scruggs' 3.669 good for third.
The field is currently the second quickest in PX history, as Mike Janis' 3.804 has him in the No. 16 position. A total of six drivers have gone in the 3.60s or quicker.
Al-Balooshi made his third qualifying session count, as he moved to the No. 1 spot in Pro Nitrous with a marvelous pass of 3.790 at 198.67 mph under the lights at Rockingham, setting both ends of the track record in the process.
It was the strongest pass for Al-Balooshi and his Speedtech team since it debuted its new Jerry Bickel Race Cars-built '68 Camaro in July.
Doug Riesterer's strong 3.802 from his second qualifying run is good enough for second, and Burton Auxier is third with a 3.81.
Overall, the qualifying field, currently rounded out by Robert Mathis (3.953), is the second-quickest in Pro Nitrous history.
In Extreme 10.5, Millen had his best run of the day on his final attempt, running a 3.899 at 197.94. Brand Brand made an impressive run moments before Millen, going 3.911 at 202.97 mph to go to second, while Chuck Ulsch's 3.961 has him in third.
Pro Extreme Motorcycle yielded a number of standout performances, but none were bigger than Jeremy Teasley, who was making his ADRL debut on a bike belonging to Rob Hunnicutt.
Teasley went 4.044 at 174.96 to impress immediately, but he had close competition. Ronald Procopio went 4.053 to sit in second, while Billy Vose (4.056) and Ashley Owens (4.058) sit in third and fourth, respectively.
Vose's 181.54 mph is the fastest pass in PXM history and he can set the official record by backing it up on Saturday.
Dean Goforth's 4.099 was the top time through three rounds in Extreme Pro Stock. Cary Goforth was second with a 4.102 and John Montecalvo was right behind with a 4.103.
Ronnie Davis' 4.087 is the top time in the brief history of Summit Racing Top Sportsman, and it gives him a big advantage over No. 2 qualifier Travis Harvey (4.174). Don Klooster is in third with a 4.176.
In Pro Junior Dragster, Robert Vogler III is the No. 1 qualifier after posting a .007 reaction time during his top pass.
