NHRA WEST CENTRAL DIVISION SUMMIT SERIES KICKS OFF IN BRAINERD
BRAINERD, Minn. (September 16, 2011) – Racing kicked off today at Brainerd International Raceway for the NHRA West Central Division Summit Racing Series Finals. More than 500 racers from 21 tracks across the region took to the quarter mile today for opening day of time trials. Up for grabs this weekend are both Individual and Team Championships with more than $50,000 in purse and contingency postings.
Gates open at 8 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday with Saturday’s time trials beginning at 9 a.m. and round 1 of the Race of Champions scheduled for 1 p.m. The ROC pits the top points earners from each track in head to head single elimination competition with winner’s being crowned Saturday evening.
Sunday’s action gets underway at 8 a.m. with round 1 for the West Central Division Summit Series Championship with Kansas City Int’l Raceway looking to defend their title from a year ago. Sunday’s winners in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Pro Bike will advance to the Summit National Championship at Auto Club Raceway, Pomona, Calif., in November where they will battle the Division Champions from the six other NHRA divisions for a purse of over $100,000.
Brainerd International Raceway is located a few miles north of the Brainerd area on the east side of Highway 371.
