ELIMINATIONS UNDERWAY FOR SUMMIT SERIES IN BRAINERD
BRAINERD, Minn. (September 17, 2011) – Extremely cool temperatures delayed the start of racing today for the NHRA West Central Division Summit Racing Series Finals at Brainerd international Raceway, and with Mother Nature not looking like she will cooperate tomorrow, officials have made some adjustments to the event’s schedule.
Early rounds of eliminations, originally scheduled for Sunday morning, began today along with early rounds in the events Race of Champions that was scheduled to be completed today. With the changes, both the Race of Champions, and the West Central Division Summit Series Championship final eliminations will take place on Sunday.
Upwards of 500 racers in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Super Pro Bike made the trip to Brainerd in hopes of taking home trophies and bragging rights along with a share of the event’s purse and contingency postings. The division champions will advance to the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship in Pomona, Calif., at Auto Club Raceway in November to battle the champions from the other six NHRA divisions for the right to be called the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Champion!
Gates at Brainerd International Raceway open on Sunday at 7 a.m. with eliminations schedule to resume at 8 a.m. for more information visit www.BrainerdRaceway.com.
