GLENDORA, Calif. — Alex Baca has been named media relations manager for the NHRA, it was announced today by Anthony Vestal, director of media relations.
Baca joins the NHRA after working for the last two years as a contract public relations specialist for several teams in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series and for clients in AMA SuperCross, Motocross and SuperBikes. She was also a freelance reporter for Radioactive Drag News, a website that covers the Full Throttle Series. She is the daughter of veteran Top Fuel racer David Baca.
In her new position, Baca will provide media relations for the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, as well as support other NHRA communications programs and NHRA racing series. In addition, she will assist with research and statistical projects, maintain relationships with national media outlets and serve as an editor and contributor to all NHRA Communications Dept. publications.
“We are pleased to have an enthusiastic new media relations team member with such a great passion for the sport of drag racing,” Vestal said. “Alex has the work ethic, ability and desire to have an immediate impact with the media services programs we have developed to promote and publicize the sport of NHRA Drag Racing. She is a great addition to the team.”
Baca received a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in economics from St. Mary’s College. A native of Brentwood, Calif. in the Bay Area, she recently relocated to Chino Hills in Southern California.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the NHRA in a position where I can actively spread the word about this great sport,” Baca said. “I have been involved in the sport for most of my life and I am really looking forward to the challenge of my new role, working with some great people and gaining more experience in the media relations field.”
