The ADRL earlier announced that it will add a full, 16-car qualifying field to its fast-paced racing program, starting with next week's Ford Drive One Summer Drags VII, which takes place July 15-16 at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich.
"The Top Sportsman class and its rules have been well-established for a number of years and it was important that we adopted these rules and policies for our program. Driver safety is always our top concern," ADRL Director of Technical Services Chris Bell said.
"This class will provide incredible action on the track and the institution of these rules will ensure our teams are competing in the safest way possible."
Top Sportsman racing in the ADRL will follow all NHRA/IHRA guidelines and rules, though there will not be a minimum weight requirement.
Additionally, all competitors will be required to have a SFI 38.1 head and neck restraint device.
The maximum dial-in will be one-tenth of a second (0.10) slower than the No. 16 qualifier's E.T., with a minimum dial-in of 3.66 and a maximum dial-in of 4.99.
The Top Sportsman winner will receive $2,000 at each event, with the runner-up earning $1,000. Semifinalists earn $500, quarterfinalist will get $400 and first-round qualifiers will earn $300. The entry fee for each team is $250.

"This is going to be an amazing class in the ADRL and we've already been blown away with the response we've received from drivers leading up to our race in Michigan," ADRL Director of Competition Tom Grooms said.
"We are extremely excited to see the reaction from the fans after these guys put on a tremendous show."
The ADRL held four and six-car Top Sportsman exhibitions at its two most recent races before officially adding the popular class for full-bodied cars to the thrilling two-day racing show.
