Montesano, Sampson, and Hope lead going into TMP's Cayuga Dragway July 1-3 event
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 20, 2011) – Vito Montesano of the Pro Modified Racing Association, Phil Sampson of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series' Randy Hope are ready to increase their respective leads in the three drag race series when they return to the track for round three at the Canadian Nitro Nationals July 1-3 at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.
Montesano, of Maple, Ontario, leads the PMRA Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport, followed by Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, and Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario. Round one in the PMRA Pro Modifieds went to Boland, and Latino won the second event.
Top Sportsman racer Sampson, of Granton, Ontario, holds the lead in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts Championship Point Award Series Standings over Darrin Grubb of Pine River, Ontario with his Top Sportsman entry, and Top Dragster driver Michael Hinbest of Orangeville, Ontario. Sampson was victorious in the first race of Quick 32 Sportsman Series racing, and Grubb won the second event.
With his win in the second PBSS race, Hope, of London, Ontario, is in first place with his Top Bike entry in the Wiseco Pro Bike & Sled Series Championship Point Award Series Standings. Second in the series at present is Bill Anderson of Seaforth, Ontario with his Pro Sled, followed by the Pro Sled of Dave Marshall of Prescott, Ontario.
The Canadian Nitro Nationals will be the third event in the six-race 2011 schedule for the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), www.PMRA.ca, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, www.Quick32.ca and the Bike & Sled Series (PBSS), www.PBSS.ca
Qualifying will take place beginning Friday, July 1, and continue throughout Saturday, July 2, with elimination rounds scheduled to take place Sunday, July 3.
This event, now in its second year, will feature the best drag racing in Canada. Along with the PMRA, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PBSS, the weekend will host runs from several nitromethane-burning fuel cars, including NHRA stars Cruz and Tony Pedregon, and former PMRA Pro Modified racer Ike Maier of Tottenham, Ontario, at the wheel of the Paton Racing Top Fueler.
