But by halfway through the season, the team had the problems in hand, and Boland began to play catch-up, finishing up tied for third for the year with 1228 points in the Pro Modified Racing Association Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport.
"We were able to get things together," noted Boland, who won the PMRA title in 2007, 2008, and 2009. "There were a lot of positives later in the year."
Powered by an ERD (Engine Research & Development) 526-cubic inch Brad Anderson supercharged Hemi engine, the yellow Split Window sits atop a Tim McAmis Race Car platform and the power is transmitted through a Lenco three-speed.
Boland said the team will be racing more with on-board computer systems, a step he believes will make the team more competitive.
The team had its problems early in 2010, as it tried to work out the bugs in the new car, although Boland qualified well with two seconds and a third in the Marydel Homes Qualifying sessions. The team did take a semi-final and a quarter-final win, along with sharing a victory with Mike Stawicki as co-winners of event five at the Grand Bend Motorplex. Boland also experienced his best run in PMRA racing with a 6.013-second clocking during the Canadian Nitro Nationals at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.
Boland wanted to thank team crew chief Rob Cesario and the rest of the crew, along with sponsors Mark Dochstader of Backwoods Excavating & Float Service, Excel Motorsports, Pro Racing Fuels, NGK Spark Plugs, A&A Auto Parts, and Double D Construction.
Boland said he plans on returning to PMRA competition for 2011, as well as racing in other Pro Modified events in North America. He added his game plan for next season will be similar to this year, but hopes to find some more power in the engine and lighten up the race car.
