The 12th Annual Musclecar Madness at the York Reunion will be held on July 12-13th, 2013
at the York Expo Center, York Fairgrounds marking the annual return to the "Best Days of
Drag Racing" and a "Salute to Ford."
The York event is the only independent event of it's type in the country and has a broad
appeal to the many former racers and fans that attended the drag racing events at the former
York US 30 Dragway which closed 34 years ago in 1979. The event has the most Legends
of Drag Racing and Legendary race cars of any event in the United States.
The popular "Cackling Thunder" will be featured when the Legendary race cars start-up
and provide the music to the performance enthusiasts ears in attendance per a specific
schedule during the two day show.
Twelve new members will be inducted into the Legion of Honor on Friday at 6 p.m.
A perpetual plaque is on display at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing and each
new member receives an individual award for their many accomplishments and
contributions to the sport of drag racing.
Legends scheduled to attend the popular event include Arlen Fadely, Hubert Platt,
Al Joniec, "Gentleman Joe" Schubeck, and "Miss Hurst Golden Shifter" Linda Vaughn
to name a few. A host of Legendary race cars will also be on display and will include
D. A. Santucci's famous "bubble gum" Top Gas dragster and Jim Barillaro's two Jack
Chrisman Comets.
The show's annual Charity of Choice is the SPCA. Funds from the People' Choice voting
canisters and a special auction will be presented during the event. The show has
been responsible for over $40,000 in support to the SPCA.
The Cruise-In held on the West Plaza has been expanded to two days for this year's
event and will feature several local and national car clubs participating.
