IHRA Summit World Finals returns to Memphis International Raceway in 2013 with huge event
Nitro racing returns to Memphis during IHRA's championship finale
NORWALK, Ohio (November 16, 2012)
– It known as the birthplace of Rock 'N Roll, land of The King and home
to some of the best barbecue in the land and now Memphis is home to the
International Hot Rod Association's biggest weekend – the Summit Racing
Equipment World Finals the weekend of October 11-12.
After
an extremely successful debut at the track in 2012 the IHRA will be
returning to the world class facility in Millington, Tennessee in 2013
with a combination event featuring the best sportsman and professional
racers in the world. The 2013 Summit Racing Equipment World Finals will
feature two Nitro Jam shows Friday and Saturday night plus the two
biggest sportsman races of the season in the Summit Racing Equipment
Tournament of Champions presented by AMSOIL and the Summit SuperSeries
presented by AMSOIL and Moser Engineering all during the IHRA's season
finale.
Memphis International Raceway will once again host IHRA's premier championship event in 2013

throughout the United States and Canada competing at Memphis

World Finals and Team Finals in October at Memphis International Raceway

New
to this year's event will be the Nitro Jam professional show combined
with an invitation-only sportsman weekend. Only drivers that have
qualified for the two championship tournaments will be eligible to
compete as nearly 200 drivers from all corners of North America will
square off for 10 World Championship trophies with the winners being
crowned in front of a capacity crowd during Saturday's Nitro Jam finale.
In
2012 the World Finals weekend attracted hundreds of racers from over
half of the United States and Canada to take part in sportsman drag
racing's biggest weekend and over $200,000 in cash and prizes.
The
two feature races will be the Summit SuperSeries and Summit Tournament
of Champions as the best grassroots and traveling racers compete for the
biggest prize in the sport.
Nitro racing will return to Memphis during the 2013 IHRA Summit World Finals
The
Summit SuperSeries consists of the 32 best grassroots racers in the
world and the 16 best Junior Dragster competitors coming together to
compete for the Top, Mod and Junior Dragster World Championship.
Consisting of the best racers from IHRA member tracks around the globe,
the top 16 drivers in each class will travel to Tennessee to battle it
out for three of the most coveted championships in drag racing today.
The
second championship showdown, the Summit Tournament of Champions, is an
invitation-only field consisting of the top three drivers in each class
from the Summit Pro-Am Tour. All year drivers work toward this event
with a chance to be crowned a world champion.
In
addition to championship sportsman drag racing Friday and Saturday, the
two-day event will also feature the world's most exciting motorsports
show featuring a unique assortment of nitro machines. From 300 mph Top
Fuel Dragsters and AMSOIL Prostalgia Nitro Funny Cars to jets, Fuel
Altereds, fireworks and more, the 2013 Summit Racing Equipment World
Finals at Memphis International Raceway will be a weekend unlike any
other.
