PMRA, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and PBSS head up major event at TMP's Cayuga Dragway this weekend
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June, 20, 2012) The Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series presented by Wiseco Performance Products return to racing this weekend for the Canadian Nitro Nationals at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.
This will be the third event for each series in the 2012 timetable, and the second time at the popular Kohler Road strip in Cayuga, Ontario.
Expected to make his return to PMRA racing is two-time IHRA Pro Modified champion Kenny Lang of Manitoba with his Summit Racing Equipment-sponsored Camaro, who won this event last year at Cayuga.
Also coming back to PMRA racing is Massachusetts racer Peter Farber. With his 1969 Dodge Daytona-bodied Pro Modified, Farber is one of the top runners in the Eastern US.
With one win to his credit, Jeff Roth of New Dundee Ontario leads the PMRA Championship Point Award Series presented by Global Emissions Systems, Inc. with 590 points, followed by three-time champion Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario with 582 points. Third with 576 points and coming off a recent victory is Jack Grainy of North Tonawanda, New York, while Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario is fourth with 564 points, followed by Derek Hawker of Corbyville, Ontario with 556 points.
The PMRA will compete with its two companion series, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the PBSS this weekend at the Canadian Nitro Nationals.
Leading the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts Championship Point Award Series Standings at present is two-time champion Kevin Wicke of Stratford, Ontario. The Top Sportsman driver has 500 points, followed by recent winner and Top Dragster driver Jeff Moser of Bamberg, Ontario with 494 points. Another Top Dragster driver, Mike Everitt, also of Stratford, is third with 491 points, with the season-opener winner, Top Sportsman driver Dan Aitken Jr of Belle River, Ontario fourth with 475 points. The Top Dragster team of Michael Hinbest and Katie Ward of Orangeville, Ontario is fifth with 459 points.
Fresh off his recent Michigan win, Pro Bike rider John Orfanidis of Toronto, Ontario leads the PBSS Championship Point Award Series Standings with 460 points, followed by the Pro Sled of Chris Bondi of Aurora, Ontario with 457 points, and the Pro Bike team of Danny Staples and Kevin McKay of Beachville, Ontario, and Pro Bike rider Bob McDonald of Woodstock, Ontario are next, tied with 418 points, with Pro Bike rider Alex Cassels of Sundridge, Ontario next with 414 points.
Qualifying gets under way Friday, June 22 at 8 pm for all three series at this premier event for the track which will also feature Top Fuel Dragsters and Nitro Funny Cars, the Can-Am Stock/Super Stock Series, and the NDRA Alcohol Funny Cars.
Racing continues with qualifying Saturday, June 23 at 4 pm, and eliminations are to begin Sunday June 24 at 11:15 am.
