WOODBURN, Ore. (Sept. 4, 2009) – The best bracket racers from across NHRA's Northwest division have come together this weekend at Woodburn Dragstrip for the division's Summit Racing Series Finals. Top points earning drivers in four categories, Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle/Snowmobile, from across the region are vying for individual and team honors and a share of the cash purse worth more than $16,000. Racers in the High School category, Sport Compact and two classes of Jr. Dragsters will also run in the event.
Tomorrow's action will feature more time trials as well as the division's Race of Champions, slated to start at 1 p.m. The Race of Champions is a race within a race that pits the winningest drivers from each track in head-to-head competition. Winners of the Race of Champions in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle/Snowmobile will have the right to compete for a national championship against the winners from NHRA's other six divisions during the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif. They will run for a winner-take-all $5,000 purse.
Eliminations for the Northwest division Summit Racing Series Finals will start Sunday morning at 9 a.m.

Some racers participated in a Gambler's Race, which does not have any bearing on the points for the regular event. Boise, Idaho's Cody Hiatt scored the win in the Electronics class beating out Dale Green of Kent, Wash. In the No Electronics class, Corey Ferguson, Langley, B.C., ousted Courtney Alley of Eagle, Idaho, in the final.
