Gary Irving on pole for Grand Bend PMRA Challenge

GRAND BEND, ONTARIO (September 5, 2009) – Gary Irving of Toronto, Ontario set low time with a 6.054-second, 223.16-mph pass in the Al Hinds 2004 Corvette at the Fourth Annual PMRA Challenge at Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, Ontario.
Jeff Roth of Baden, Ontario ran a 6.264-second pass good for second position in his 1941 Willys and posted top speed at 231.83 mph.
Jack Grainy driving the Grainy Brother 1967 Camaro, placed third with a 6.268-second pass, followed by Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario at 6.271 seconds with his 1967 Chevy II and Jason Kalso of Clarkston, Michigan fifth with a 6.406-second time in his 1970 Barracuda Pro Modified.
Rounding out the eight-car field will be Sam Andreacchi of Rexdale, Ontario, Eric Latino of Scarborough, Ontario and Dave Earhart of Strathroy, Ontario.
In Quick 32 Sportsman Series action, presented by NAPA Auto Parts, Scott Wildgust of Wartburg, Ontario heads up the 16-car Top Sportsman field with his 1957 Chevy. Wildgust posted a 6.540-second, 213.21-mph run. Second in the class is Carl Spiering of Jordan Station, Ontario with a 6.585-second, 208.18-mph posting in his Chevy Cobolt.
On the Top Dragster side, Todd Hope of Norwich, Ontario, set both ends of qualifying with a 6.191-second, 218.12-mph run. From Orangeville, Ontario, Michael Hinbest took number two spot in the 16-car field with a 6.445-second, 215.31 mph run, while Spencer Hyde of Stratford, Ontario is third with a 6.608-second, 203.85-mph run.
Round one of championship eliminations will begin Sunday, September 6 at 11:30 a.m.
