YORK, PA – A myriad of legendary race cars will converge on the York Expo Center, York Fairgrounds on July 12-13th for the presentation of the 12th Annual Musclecar Madness at the York Reunion.
The York Reunion is the event that sets the standard for "original" legendary race cars each year with this year's event presenting a Salute to Ford and the '70 Ford Maverick of Dyno Don Nicholson sporting the original paint and engine that brought the Ford marque to their first Pro Stock win at the 1971 NHRA Summernationals. Doug Kenny of Riverview, Florida owns the car that became dominant in Pro Stock for the 1970 and 1971 seasons.
Jim Barillaro of Knoxville, Tennessee has entered his Jack Chrisman Comet's to the stellar line-up. The original '65 Comet race car and the original '67 GT1 Comet that became world famous in the sport of drag racing.
Another driver carrying the Ford banner was Bob Glidden whose original '78 Ford Fairmont went undefeated in the competitive world of drag racing and will be on display for the York Reunion weekend.
The York Reunion hours are Friday, July 12th from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 13th from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
The Cruisin' Into Summer cruise in on the West Plaza will have a special display from the Ford Fairlane Club of America on Friday. The two day cruise will feature awards presented by Miss Hurst Golden Shifter, Linda Vaughn and Ford standout Hubert Platt. Hours are Friday, 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Action moves to Beaver Springs Dragway on Sunday, July 14 for the presentation of the 9th Annual York Nostalgia Nationals. Gates open at 8 a.m.
