NHRA NEWS: PRO STOCK DRIVER, PRO STOCK TEAM FINED BY NHRA FOR RULES INFRACTIONS

GLENDORA, Calif. (May 14, 2013) – NHRA announced today that it has fined a Pro Stock racer and a Pro Stock team for committing rules infractions last weekend at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Ga.

NHRA Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson was fined $5,000 and penalized 10 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series championship points for removal of safety equipment (lifting of helmet shield) which is prohibited from the time the vehicle leaves the starting line until the vehicle is on the return road as outlined in the 2013 NHRA Rulebook, section 2, page 1.
   
The Elite Motorsports Pro Stock team was fined $10,000 and their driver Rickie Jones penalized 25 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series championship points for improper modification of the Electrimotion Pro Stock Shutoff Controller Kit, required in all Pro Stock vehicles.  The Electrimotion Pro Stock Shutoff Controller Kit is a safety element installed on Pro Stock vehicles to assist an impaired driver in stopping the race vehicle beyond the finish line.  Modification or tampering with the Electrimotion Pro Stock Shutoff Controller Kit is strictly prohibited, as outlined in section 16, page 10 of the 2013 NHRA Rulebook.
 
Both fines must be paid in full prior to the driver or team being allowed to participate at any future NHRA events.  Both fines are appealable, as outlined in section 1, pages 16-23 of the 2013 NHRA Rulebook.
