Top Fuel to run at every Nitro Jam event in 2013
NORWALK, Ohio (January 16, 2013)
– They are the known as the Kings of the Sport, rockets of the
quarter-mile and quite simply the most exciting, heart-stopping form of
motorsports on the planet.
And
this season the unmistakable sights, sounds and smells of Top Fuel
Dragster will return to the Nitro Jam lineup at every stop on the 2013
schedule.
Beginning
at Southwestern International Raceway in March and ending at Memphis
International Raceway in October the 2013 Nitro Jam schedule will
feature the return of Top Fuel Dragster, along with a host of returning
nitro-powered machines including AMSOIL Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car,
Nitro Harley, Fuel Altered and more. Each stop on the Nitro Jam tour
will also include the impressive fire display of the 30,000 horsepower
Super Shockwave jet truck, fireworks and unique surprises at every
event.
Top Fuel returns to the Nitro Jam lineup in 2013 at all eight events
But at the center of the fury is the show-stopping power of Top Fuel.
"We
took a survey of our fans, sponsors, racers and even our own employees
about what makes them say 'wow' in this sport. While all of the lists
varied from second place on down, number one was almost always the same.
Everyone listed Top Fuel as the most exciting thing they have ever
seen," said Nitro Jam President Aaron Polburn. "So in 2013 we are
thrilled to bring Top Fuel back to our lineup and make each Nitro Jam
event as entertaining and exciting as possible. We had a great product
in 2012 and with the addition of Top Fuel I know this year's lineup will
be our most exciting yet."
All
eight Nitro Jam events will feature Top Fuel as part of its lineup,
with some races showcasing a pair of 8,000 horsepower machines battling
side-by-side on the quarter-mile and other events featuring as many as
four. And as for others, well, they will feature something quite a bit
different, an experience that will certainly have fans talking.
"At
select events on the 2013 schedule we will be racing a Top Fuel
Dragster against a jet-powered dragster creating a sensory overload the
likes of which many people have never seen," Polburn said. "On one hand
you have the fastest accelerating machine on earth and on the other you
have a flame-throwing jet that creates all of its speed at the top end.
Combined you have two machines going 300 mph that provides a completely
unique look and feel when racing."
Among
the drivers scheduled to race in 2013 are longtime Nitro Jam competitor
and 2007 Top Fuel World Champion Bruce Litton and rising star and 2012
race winner Kyle Wurtzel.
