Nitro Jam wraps up season August 10-11 at U.S. 131 Championships on the line at CarSafe Northern Nitro Jam
MARTIN, Mich. (July 31, 2012) – Get ready Michigan; championship nitro racing is back at Martin.
For the second year in a row U.S. 131 Motorsports Park will be the sight of the Nitro Jam season finale as championships are decided in all four touring nitro classes plus sportsman racers will be competing in a double Pro-Am plus a spot in the Summit Racing Equipment Tournament of Champions presented by AMSOIL at one of the biggest sportsman national events of the year at the CarSafe Northern Nitro Jam August 10-11 at Michigan's fastest track.

And as the final stop for the professionals on the 2012 Nitro Jam Tour, U.S. 131 Motorsports Park and the IHRA have a huge finale planned for the annual summer stop at America's premier motorsports destinations that is sure to pack the house and give race fans in western Michigan the event they have been waiting for.
"Martin is always one of the most exciting stops of the IHRA Nitro Jam season. It is one of the most beautiful facilities in the country and produces some of the best racing seen all year," said IHRA President Aaron Polburn. "This year we have a lot lined up for this race including several nitro classes, a huge sportsman race and a huge show. It should be an exciting weekend full of everything race fans crave."
In professional competition the 2012 CarSafe Northern Nitro Jam at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park will feature a huge lineup of nitro racing and motorsports entertainment for Michigan race fans to take place Friday and Saturday night.
Among the stars of the CarSafe Northern Nitro Jam are four nitro classes including Pro Fuel Dragsters, AMSOIL Prostalgia Nitro Funny Cars, Nitro Harleys and Nostalgia Fuel Altereds. The August 10-11 event will also feature a thrilling supporting cast that includes the 25,000 horsepower Super Shockwave jet truck and the world's biggest drag race between the Grave Digger and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle monster trucks.

And, like the dozens of events that came before it, it wouldn't be Nitro Jam without the stars.
Highlighting the nitro lineup at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park will be the stars of Pro Fuel Dragster as defending Nitro Jam champion Bill Evans in the "Black Pearl" looks to repeat as champion against Robin Samsel in "Predator", Cherissa Smallwood in "Nitro and Lace" and Kristen Dennis in the "Ladies First" dragster. Last year it was ladies night at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park as Nitro Jam's fastest females swept the nitro dragster class.
The AMSOIL Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car field will also feature a stout field headed by defending champion Peter Gallen in the "Poverty Stricken" Nitro Funny Car and another great lineup of talent in the nostalgia flopper class. Gallen will be joined by Mike Savage in the famous "Candies & Hughes" Barracuda, Mike McIntire in the "McAttack" Camaro, Greg Jacobsmeyer in the "All-Star" Dodge Challenger, Laurie Cannister in the "Bullet Bob" Trans Am and of course the famous "Chi-Town Hustler" machine.
Professional competition will conclude with the out-of-control Nostalgia Fuel Altered class and 220 mph Nitro Harley action as the two most extreme classes in drag racing do battle on the Michigan strip. In Fuel Altered rookie sensation Dave Hough will be looking for his first career win after six runner-up finishes in the "Nanook" ride as he battles defending Nitro Jam champion Ron Maroney in "Blind Faith", Mike Hilsabeck in "Arizona Thunder" and the blazing fast "Nasty Benjamin" driven by Tom Padilla.
The bad boys of Nitro Harley will also tear up the track with 220 mph passes on sometimes only one wheel as Jay Turner and Steve Dorn go head-to-head and battle two more of the fastest bikes in the land.
Nitro Jam championships will be on the line in all four pro classes.
Wrapping up the weekend will be a finale featuring the Super Shockwave jet truck and the incredible showdown between Monster Jam superstar Randy Brown in the world famous Grave Digger monster truck taking on Joey Parnell in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

In sportsman competition all seven IHRA Pro-Am classes will be featured as part of a double Pro-Am weekend with competition in Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Super Stock, Stock, Quick Rod, Super Rod and Hot Rod. Competitors will do battle for Pro-Am points and a spot in the year-end Tournament of Champions for winners Saturday night.
This year's event, now featuring two Pro-Am points races in addition to a spot in the TOC being on the line, is expected to be one of the biggest yet for sportsman competitors.

All four nitro-burning classes plus all exhibitions will compete Friday and Saturday night under the lights using the Nitro Jam racing format where the quickest winners from round one do battle for an Ironman trophy.
