Hamstra Goes Wire-To-Wire In 2011 To Claim First ADRL Pro Extreme World Championship
O'FALLON, MO (October 30, 2011) – Jason Hamstra proved he was capable of winning a world championship in the American Drag Racing League's (ADRL) Pro Extreme class after being named the 2009 ADRL Rookie of the Year.
That potential was out in full force in 2011, as Hamstra was the wire-to-wire leader during the calendar year, claiming his first world championship in the ADRL's quickest and fastest class.
"This was the year you had always dreamed you would have. I always wanted to come out to a national series and put the No. 1 on the car the next season," Hamstra said. "I would say it was pretty much a dream season for me and my family. It couldn't have played out a whole lot better."
The dream season started in impressive fashion and the Demotte, Ind., native never looked back, putting together a season full of consistent runs.
It led to two wins, two finals appearances and four semifinals appearances, advancing to the semifinals in all but one race of a standout and memorable season.

The PMRA Top Five for 2011 - The Pro Modified Team of Roth Racing with driver Jeff Roth - Number Four
KITCHENER, ONTARIO (October 28, 2011) Long-time Pro Modified Racing Association competitor Roth Racing worked with a new combination in 2011, and placed fourth in the Pro Modified Racing Association Marydel Homes Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts, Patio Passport and Global Emissions Systems Inc.
For team head and owner Jim Roth, the year was successful with the 1941 Willys-bodied Pro Mod.
"All in all we had a pretty good year," he noted. "We were shooting for and worked hard to get into the fives, and we came close. But we're getting a handle on it now. There is no end to what you can learn with these cars."
Driven by Jim's son Jeff Roth, the Alan Johnson 526-cubic inch Atchison Racing Supercharged engine in the Willys received a new PSI Superchargers screw blower for 2011, and the team of crew chief Dave Bankes along with Larry Summerfield, Marc McCrae, and the Roths worked to get the right set-up with the Lowdown Hot Rods-chassied car.
The team qualified for all six PMRA races in 2011, highlighted with a best showing in event four at Grand Bend with a final round appearance against eventual winner Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario. While Roth's 231.28-mph was faster than Latino's 230.72, Latino recorded a 6.066-second final while Roth came in at 6.109.
The Willys' best for 2011 was a 6.06 clocking, and speeds were usually in the 235-240-mph range, but the team did run a 242.28.
Roth added that the level of racing has been stepped up significantly since the team entered the PMRA five seasons ago.
"The level of competitiveness has increased greatly," he said. "It's getting harder and harder."
Roth wanted to not only thank his crew for their efforts in 2011, but the team's sponsors that include Oak Grove Cheese, NGK Spark Plugs and Outer Limits Transportation. He also wanted to note the support of Marc McCrae and Dragstar with the Fire Core 50 ignition wire system in the Willys, and John Shane of Shelborne Fuels, who supplied fuels for the team in 2011 and welcomes him back for the 2012 season.
The Annual "Night of Champions" Championship Point Award Series Banquet for the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the Pro Bike & Sled Series (PBSS) will be held at the Burlington Hotel & Conference Centre in Burlington, Ontario on Saturday, November 19, 2011.

Owens’ Dream Season Concludes With ADRL Championship In Pro Extreme Motorcycle
O'FALLON, MO (October 27, 2011) – In 2010, Ashley Owens put together one of the most dominating years in American Drag Racing League (ADRL) history.
A year later, the spoils were even sweeter for the Pro Extreme Motorcycle standout.
Owens accomplished nearly everything possible during a truly magnificent 2011 season, ending it with not only a "Battle For The Belts" shootout win but his first ADRL world championship.
"We were just happy with how the whole year turned out," Owens said. "I can't say enough about Paul and everyone at Fast by Gast. The bike has just been flawless and it's been a great year for us. I'm just happy with everything."
The soft-spoken Alabama native has always let his performance doing the talking and his magnificent riding reverberated throughout the class and the ADRL in 2011.
Owens racked up four victories and two additional finals berth, recording the most points of any ADRL competitor and winning the points championship by the biggest margin in any class.
The Fast by Gast rider would be the first to shrug off all of the high praise, instead focusing on the brilliant team surrounding him.
"We've just enjoyed while we're on top because it can turn around in one race," Owens said.
"We've just enjoyed it while we can and our thing is just not being satisfied. We're always trying new things and trying to go faster."
Leading that charge is bike owner Paul Gast, who runs Fast by Gast and has consistently given Owens unbelievable bikes.
The newest debuted at the first race of the 2011 season and Owens went 4.02 at more than 180 miles per hour in Houston, setting the E.T. and speed records.
Things only got better from there and Owens gave plenty of credit to Gast's endless work to give him the perfect bike.

The Top Sportsman team of Grubb Racing
with driver Darrin Grubb Number Four
PINE RIVER, ONTARIO (October 25, 2011) Consistency and a solid effort allowed Grubb Racing to finish fourth in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts Championship Point Award Series Standings for 2011.
"This has been a great year. We are very happy," said team driver Darrin Grubb, who pilots the team's 2004 Chevy Cavalier in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series Top Sportsman division. "We were fortunate, as everything worked as advertised."
The Cavalier received a new engine for 2011, a 706-cubic inch Par Racing engine, which ran well right from the start of the six-race season. The Chris Duncan Race Cars product also houses a Powerglide transmission courtesy of Hutch's Transmissions, and a fuel system from Rupert's Racing Products.
The team is headed up by Darrin's brother Marvin Grubb. Mike Dennis is the team's crew chief, and Barb Grubb is also an integral part of the team.
The car qualified for each event this year, always in the top-ten of the 16-car Top Sportsman field. There were a couple of first-round losses, a second-round loss, and two quarter-final rounds, but it all came together at event two of the year when Grubb won not only the Top Sportsman final eliminator, he captured the event win over the Top Dragster of Michael Hinbest of Orangeville, Ontario.
"Consistency is very important to us," Grubb noted over their success. "We like to go fast but not go too fast."
Sponsorship includes Marvin's Automotive Service Ltd., Pennzoil, Hutch's Transmission Service, Ideal Supply, Chris Duncan Race Cars, Foris Signs and Par Racing Engines.
Grubb also said the level or racing has become intense over the past two seasons.
"You have to be perfect every time," he said about the competition. "Everyone has stepped up their game plans. The fields are getting quick. Seems that it wasn't that long ago that Pro Stocks were running what we are now."
Racing for 15 years now, Grubb said the Quick 32 Sportsman Series is ideal for the team's racing endeavors.
"This has been an awesome series," he said. "We are happy to be a part of it."
