NORWALK, Ohio (November 22, 2013) – The International Hot Rod Association announced today the official schedule for the Division 9 Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL season that will include six races at incredibly popular tracks throughout North Carolina including Mooresville Dragway, Rockingham Dragway, Piedmont Dragway, Farmington Dragway and the recently renamed Galot Motorsports Park.
Most Division 9 events will feature a single race weekend with qualifying on Saturday and racing on Sunday with the exception of Farmington Dragway. Farmington will once again retain its status as the only double race weekend in the division with two opportunities to gain series points. Racers that finish within the top three in their divisional points will earn an automatic bid to the 2014 Summit Racing Equipment Tournament of Champions at Memphis International Raceway in October.
"I'm honored and excited for the opportunity to work with one of the strongest divisions in IHRA. I can't wait to get things started and I look forward to working with all of the racers and track operators to make this the best season ever," said Josh Peake, IHRA Division 9 Director. "I have a strong feeling that the competition is going to be tougher than ever and hope that everyone will be ready to go when the season opens at Mooresville in March."
The 2014 Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour Division 9 season will officially get underway the weekend of March 28-30 at Mooresville Dragway at one of the finest tracks in the state.
The Raiders Division will host a pair of races in May as Rockingham Dragway welcomes the series and the return of the 41st annual IHRA Spring Nationals the weekend of May 16-18. Division 9 will once again welcome an IHRA national event to the heart of IHRA country with two exciting days of racing during a busy month in May.
The recently renamed Galot Motorsports Park, formerly Dunn-Benson Dragstrip, will host the Summit Pro-Am Tour the weekend of May 30-June 1.
Piedmont Dragway will host the Raiders Division the weekend of June 27-29.
Bringing the Division 9 season to a close will be Farmington Dragway which will once again host a double race weekend. Racers will have two opportunities to claim valuable Pro-Am championship points in the final race of the 2014 season in North Carolina.
